The Seasons

The leaves fall as the seasons pass,
surely the present will never last,
and the past blends into our dreams.
As I wake up, I hold on for another moment
a chance to love you another time.
Falling in love you brings out the realization that forever may be entirely too short,
and so when I think of you,
I will always wait for a moment longer.
Till winter leaves our sights,
and the sun sets as it should,
it fills our hearts with the warmth of summer.
The days of skinny love reap at the thought of a tomorrow
so instead we love for something that won’t last,
while my heart skips for you all the while.
